The engines built by Norvin Rinek's company were the first 8 cylinder water-cooled types to be made in the U.S.A. for aircraft use.  Rinek's most notable contribution to aviation was his introduction and application of specialized materials to both engine and aircraft design that combined strength, durability and light weight.
